After a wedding well timed for the wettest April on record we spent the following week packing up all of our possessions ready for the tenants to move in on the Friday. Needless to say we were exhausted – the stress of organising our own wedding and then having to pack the house all in 7 days was a brave (see foolish) decision. With tenants moved in and happy we camped out at my mums getting ourselves together before setting off for Wales where my Dad had been tirelessly getting the campervan into shape.
His first deadline was the wedding as we had wanted all of our guests who had kindly given us gifts – from windscreen wipers to beach towels – to see the camper in all it’s renovated glory. Everything was on track and dad set off for London in high spirits……and then about half way the camper broke down. It wasn’t by any means a disaster and was, in fact, a sort of blessing as much better for the camper to show any potential issues before we set of for 4/5 months. Although as we are now 10 days on and dad is still battling away with it I am not sure a blessing is how he would describe it!
Tomorrow we get delivery of some important parts which mean dad, Dave and Jim (local mechanic) are in for a full on day putting everything back together. Once that is done we can start running tests and trying to spot any potential problems. And then (for me) the really fun part can start – packing up the camper! It’s extremely apparent from the piles of bags around that we have far to much stuff and so it will be interesting.
So….that’s where we are for now…..waiting like coiled springs to get out there and start the adventure!
